Which syllabus you use depends on your needs:


Individuals in the CSUS, CCE, EHS, or CDE programs should contact Dr. Vicars for the direct link to your syllabus.  Others, including ASLU independent students should use the syllabus below that applies to your situation.


ASL Level 1 Self-study (free) 
You are a casual learner who would like an easy, organized way to study ASL through the internet at your own pace without having to buy anything.  You don't need to test yourself.  You don't need documentation.  You just want to learn how to communicate with your friend, coworker, relative, or Deaf people that you happen to meet.


ASL Level 1 [Home School / Self-Testing]  (Material fee: Buy the Level 1 coursepack from the Lifeprint bookstore. Do not register. Do not pay tuition.)
You are a home school or self-study student and want to be able to test your own progress by using computer-based testing.  You prefer to purchase the course materials from the ASLU bookstore and use them on your own and track your own progress or that of your child.  You do not need authoritative documentation. 


 ASL Level 1 [College-equivalent study]  (Registration fee, includes materials)
You need authoritative documentation of your participation in an organized continuing education experience under responsible sponsorship, capable direction and qualified instruction. You need to satisfy a language course or continuing education requirement at your local school or organization by taking a course equivalent to a 3 semester-credit-hour college course or a 1-semester high school course.  You have checked and your local school or organization has indicated in writing that they are willing to accept continuing education units from ASLU.

Sac State EDS 151 / EDS 152  [ASL 1 and ASL 2]
If you are a California State University, Sacramento Student and want to find your syllabus.
Dr. Bill says:  Contact me for the direct link to your syllabus. Include "CSUS" in your subject line. In the body of your email always include your full name, the days of your course, and the time of your class.  If you are a Continuing Education student then put CCE in your subject line, your name, and your topic.
