ASL Vocabulary Expansion Series 01:
While studying these lessons please keep in mind that this is a Vocabulary Expansion Series! These are not necessarily the signs I personally prefer. I'm showing them to you so that if you see them you will recognize them and not feel like a doofus. I'm not telling you to use these signs. I'm simply saying I've seen them in the Deaf community (at least once or they wouldn't be in this series) and I want you to be able to recognize them if YOU see them. For example, I personally prefer the version of the sign NOT-FAR that uses an "F" hand and I do not like the version of NOT-FAR that uses a "G" hand -- but I want you to recognize or be able to figure out the sign if you see it! I personally don't sign CEREAL using the initialized version but some people do sign it that way. If you want to become a skilled communicator in the Deaf Community it will help if you can recognize a wide variety of signs -- including those from regions beyond your own local area.
