Deaf Patron Temple Card
I am DEAF. I do NOT voice.
Below are some temple approved instructions to help make my experience here
enjoyable and smooth.
* Please provide me with a tag so that temple workers will know I am Deaf.
* Please seat me near the front in both ordinance rooms which will allow me to
see the interpreter/closed-captioning.
* If there is an ASL interpreter available, please have them present prior to
and during the sessions to interpret any instructions that may be given to the
patrons by the temple workers.
* Prayer Circle: The interpreter needs to be allowed to stand in a location that
allows him or her to be seen by all Deaf patrons. If the interpreter is a
sister, she is allowed to have her face unveiled during the prayer.
* At the veil: If an ASL interpreter is not available, please hand me the
English veil card. The veil worker then points to the words that are being said
by the other party. I will respond in ASL after performing the appropriate
actions at the veil, while the veil worker voices my response for me.
* It is very important for the veil workers to understand that I CANNOT voice,
so please do not ask me to do so.
Hard-of-Hearing Patron Temple Card
I am Hard-of-Hearing. I can voice, but cannot hear/understand everything that is
being said to me, especially when one is speaking quietly or whispering.
