Englishy Signing:

What does it mean if someone tells you that your signing is Englishy?

Situational Signed English: Some signs or sets of signs can be considered either ASL or Signed English depending on usage.

For example, the sign PLEASE. If you use the sign PLEASE when you could have instead just used a facial expression or used the sign “you-MIND?”-(with a hopeful facial expression) such usage of PLEASE might be considered Signed English. Using unnecessary signs that correspond to English phraseology often causes a mild form of irritation to be experienced by a signing partner or audience and evokes the pejorative label “That’s Signed English” or “Your signing is Englishy.”
