At the 31 seconds into a video titled "A Welcome Message from Gallaudet
University's Sororities" we observe a young Deaf woman spell "labor" then sign
WEEKEND SOON NEARer-NEARER-to. (Labor, 2005) This can be interpreted as "Labor
Day's going to be here soon!" or "Labor Day is coming up!"
This is an example of a skilled signer choosing to spell "labor," dispense with
(not use) the sign DAY and segue (move smoothly into) WEEKEND (using the double
flat hands version of WEEKEND) to sign "Labor Day weekend."
"fs-LABOR WEEKEND" + context = A version of "Labor Day Weekend."
