POINT: The American Sign Language (ASL) sign for "point / points"
 The appropriate sign for "point" depends on your context and intent.

 

The sign for POINT / POINTS as used in gaming and sports is signed differently than it is when referring to a "point" as in "an argument or idea put forward by a person in discussion or the significant or essential element of what is intended or being discussed" (definition per Lexico).

 


POINT / the point [essential element of intention or discussion]
As in "Good point."
You point your  dominant index finger toward the tip of the other index finger and you move the dominant finger toward but do not touch the non-dominant finger.

 

 

Sample sentence: What's your point?

 


There is a specific version of the sign for POINT / POINTS that is used in gaming and sports.

 

The sign "POINT / POINTS-(sports/gaming)" uses a quick downward (not sideways) movement of the dominant hand. The dominant hand then bounces upward a bit (all in one quick, smooth motion.)
