MEMORIZE:

Here's a closeup on that first hand position:

Note:  Memorize is different from "remember."
Here is the sign for REMEMBER:
Think of "tacking it down."

Sign question?? Would you explain the difference in the signs forget and memorize. Is the sign the same. It is difficult to see the difference, if any, in the hand shape and movement.

Hi Renate,
MEMORIZE: The initial handshape is a loose claw. The movement moves outward, away from the forehead, turns into an "S."
See: http://lifeprint.com/asl101/pages-signs/m/memorize.htm

FORGET: The sign starts as a "slightly bent B handshape with the thumb extended."  The fingertips wipe across the forehead as if wiping dry erase marker from a whiteboard. The sign ends in an "A" handshape.

Cordially,
Dr. V
