The sign for "I/me" in ASL is to point at
yourself with an index finger. The sign can touch the chest or not.
Either way is fine.
The sign "pledge" is done by signing "PROMISE."
Pledge part two: The sign "allegiance" can be done by using the sign "SUPPORT."
The sign "FLAG" looks uses the dominant hand to
represent a flag, and the support hand to represent a pole. Move the "flag" as
if it is waving in the wind: Some people do separate signs for UNITED and
STATES. Others just spell U.S. To do this right, you use a little
circular movement (as if drawing a very small circle on a wall) with each
letter. To sign America, you interlock your fingers and
move the hands in a big circle as if stiring a large "melting" pot. and to the republic for which it stands The sign for "one" is what you would expect. You
show a "1" with an index finger. "Nation" uses a modified "N" hand. Pretend it is
a flag and you are doing to plant the flag pole in the ground. You draw a
little horizontal circle in the air and then stick it down into the ground: Note: I'll post more comments below as time permits. |
